Simi was born and raised in Nigeria, the last of four children. Growing up in a close-knit environment, she developed a passion for music at a young age and was active in her local church choir, where she honed her vocal skills. Her early start in gospel music culminated in the release of her debut gospel album, Ogaju, in 2008.

Simisola Bolatito Kosoko (née Ogunleye), professionally known as Simi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress known for her soulful voice and lyrical depth. Born on April 19, 1988, Simi began her music journey as a gospel artist and has evolved into one of Nigeria’s most respected and versatile music talents.

Simi gained public recognition in 2014 with the release of her breakout single, “Tiff”, which earned her a nomination for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015. That same year, she signed a record deal with X3M Music, under which she released her critically acclaimed second studio album, Simisola, in 2017. She followed this with Omo Charlie Champagne, Vol. 1, released on her 31st birthday in 2019. After her contract expired in May 2019, Simi launched her own independent label, Studio Brat, a bold step that showcased her entrepreneurial spirit.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, Simi served as one of the top judges on Nigerian Idol Season 7 in 2022, further establishing her influence and credibility in the entertainment industry.
