Omah Lay Sparks Debate, Declares Himself the Greatest Afrobeats Artist of the Decade Ahead of Asake, Rema, Others

Nigerian singer and songwriter Omah Lay, known for his smooth vocals and hit songs like “Bad Influence” and “Soso,” has stirred conversations following bold remarks he made during a recent interview with Capital XTRA.

Speaking confidently about his place in the music industry, the artist described himself as the greatest Afrobeats act of the decade, emphasizing his strength in artistry over other metrics.

“I am the greatest Afrobeats artist of the decade, I am the greatest,” he said.

Explaining his stance, he noted that while some may judge greatness based on numbers, personality, or level of fame, his focus is on the quality of music he creates.

“Well, you can say that numbers and personality or the level of fame, then maybe you will not consider me. But when you come to making art, I’m the greatest,” he added.
